When I was on vacation in Spokane Washington this summer, I stumbled across a newly released game for the Nintendo DS, and it was Full Metal Alchemist: Dual Sympathy. I love the anime series, and have seen every episode (including the movie), so naturally I was excited for the game. I bought it used for $17, and couldn’t wait to start playing it. Over the next few days, after about 2 and a half hours into it, I beat story mode. It followed exactly the same as the T.V. series, which I was impressed with, but it was too short. I then went into character mode, and so far have beaten it with Al, Ed, Scar, and Izumi. They go really fast (I can usually beat one a day), but it’s still fun. After you beat story mode, you also unlock a hard mode. I beat all of those people on hard mode too. You can really tell the difference, the bosses are harder, and it’s just overall harder. I wouldn’t get this game if I didn’t like the anime and the manga series. It’s just that kind of game that only hard core fans would get, and would be happy with even with how short it is. I’d say it’s good for just a pick up and play every now and then game, but it’s not worth the now lowered $19 MSRP (manufacture suggested retail price).
