As long as there are famous people there are fans. But having fans isn’t limited to just human celebrities. A piece of art work or a book can have fans as well. Anyone can be a fan of anything and anything can have fans. For being one is soley based on how much admiration and love you have for whatever or whoever it is that makes you happy.
For the entire month of February I will discuss three different ways fans show their appreciation for j-music. From web sites to dressing up as their idols and writing fictional stories.
First up, online fan sites.
A fan site is a web site created by an individual or a group of people to show appreciation for an idol they admire. These sites are almost always filled with a great amount of information on the person(s). Biographies, photos, articles and etc…
Masakarasu.net is just like that. Dedicated to J-Rock solo singer/songwriter and guitarist 雅-miyavi-, Masakarasu which means Elegant Crow was created on August 20th, 2006 by and currently still run by a team of co-miyavi-chan, a nickname he gave to all of his fans. It also holds the reigns of being the number one most popular and well informative 雅-miyavi- based fan site for his English speaking fans.
Anyone not familiar with the artist himself will be after spending some time on this site. It contains not only the usual news updates and discography listing but a little known info page filled with facts about 雅-miyavi-, a detailed guide to help you navigate his official web site called Oresama 101, an explanation on Kansai (the specific dialect he speaks), English translations of both his song lyrics and journal translations for those who can not read Japanese and so much more…
Masakarasu.net is fan appreciation at its finest! In fact in all of the years I have been a web surfer I have never seen a fan site quite like this one before! It oozes with dedication and admiration for our Elegant Crow.

Coming next week to Around The J-World…
Meet a fan who shows her appreciation by dressing up as the very artists she admires! See you then!
