In spite of the worldwide weak economy in 2008 (and the fact that no new game consoles were released last year), game sales continued to be strong, with Nintendo taking 4 of the top 5 spots: “Wii Fit, Mario Kart Wii, Pokemon Platinum and Super Smash Bros Brawl took places 2 to 5.” Sony did take the number 1 spot for the PSP game Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G, which, although produced by a third-party developer, resulted in an increase of sales of the Sony PSP gaming unit.
