Nowadays there are so many forms of meido-themed entertainment in Japan. Apart from the usual maid cafe, now they have just recently opened a Maid Casino in Akihabara.

Maid Casino

The newly opened Akiba Guild, allows customers to play blackjack, roulette, or daifugou with dealers dressed in maid costumes. Just like pachinko establishments, customers are only able to exchange their chips for small prizes instead of money. Why is this so? For those that don’t know, in Japan, the law states that cash cannot be paid out. Basically, gambling is illegal, theoretically.

The site has actually uploaded a youtube vid of a blackjack game.

I’m wondering if what would be the main customers that they are targeting. Would it be the otaku geek or the frequent gamblers that are looking for something fresh.

At the same time, because cash is not allowed. Normally pachinko parlors would have a small exchange centre located nearby where players can conveniently exchange tokens for cash. However, the authorities just shut one eye on this, so thats the reason you can see pachinko parlors everywhere.

Since most pachinko parlors are linked to the Yakuza. Maybe this particular maid casino was opened by a yakuza that is also a part-time otaku. LOL

First Maid Cafes, now Maid Casinos!

Whykay, well - excellent question! We’ve known already that, a couple of years ago, the first butler cafes opened in Japan, catering to female otaku.

The Butler Cafe aims to present the perfect image of the classic butler. That is, a perfect gentlemen, sporting a tail-coat and black hair. Customers (women especially) will be greeted at the door with a courtly “Welcome, Your Highness” just as royalty would be greeted in their castle.

Let’s see if someone will eventually open up a “butler casino” at some point! :o - have fun :D.
